Celebration Key is Carnival Cruise Line’s brand-new private destination, not to be confused with private island. Celebration key is located on Grand Bahama Island just outside of Freeport. The 'resort' style destionation is designed exclusively for Carnival guests.

🚢 At the Port

  • The pier is about a 5-minute walk, but trams are available for guests who prefer not to walk or have mobility challenges.

  • The resort is easy to- look for the color coded walk ways, plenty of free, prime seating, and cabanas available for rent.

🏝️ Top Features

  • HUGE Freshwater Lagoon: The lagoon is a breathtaker, ideal for swimming, and relaxing without the saltwater. It’s the largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean, offering a unique experience.

  • Largest Swings Bar: A fun, lively spot featuring giant swings where guests can enjoy drinks and socialize in a vibrant atmosphere. There are swings over sandy areas as well as over the water!

  • Swim-Up Bar: Who doesn't love a swim up bar. Near by is a DJ!

  • One Included Meal: Carnival provides a complimentary meal for guests from one of the Island Eats locations. Those locations are all through the resort.

  • The Sandcastle & Waterslides: The sandcastle is the centerpiece of the resort. Its absolutely stunning and houses the two waterslides. The pink waterslide is my favorite.

⚠️ Cons

  • Rocky Beach: The beach is rocky as you enter and go a ways out. Water shoes are a must.

  • Bees: There are a ton of bees around the entire resort. They are obviously attracted to food and beverages, so be mindful if you are allergic.

🍴 Food & Drink

  • One included meal with a variety of options is part of your stay.

  • Additional food and drinks can be purchased at bars and kiosks around the island.

  • Casual, beach-friendly fare complements the laid-back vibe.

🌟 Excursion Tips

  • Book cabanas early to secure shade and privacy.

  • The freshwater lagoon is great for families and anyone wanting a calm swimming environment.

  • When booking an excursion 'at the port' through the cruislines website, be mindful that while some say celebration key, they are actually not at the resort. Such as Viva Wyndam and Grand Lucayan.

  • As a Carnival-exclusive island, expect a more controlled, less crowded experience compared to public islands.

Overall Impression

I loved my first visit to Celebration Key. Now I was there for the grand opening, so I don't know if that made a difference in food portion size. We rented a lagoon cabana and had the best day. The staff was amazing, food was amazing, and the sun was out ready to greet us. As we departed, there was a rainbow over the island sending us off.
