Why Casablanca, Morocco Is My Favorite Port
Out of all the ports I’ve explored, Casablanca, Morocco totally has my heart—and probably always will. The second you step off the ship, it’s a full-on sensory celebration: vibrant colors everywhere you look, the air thick with the warm scent of spices, and the hum of a city where old-world charm and modern life swirl together like mint in a teacup. One visit stands out like a scene from a movie. We wandered into this cozy little silk rug shop—just browsing, of course (famous last words). Inside, we watched in awe as master weavers worked their magic, spinning intricate patterns with the kind of skill that makes you forget time exists. Then, they served us traditional Moroccan tea in the cutest little glass shot glasses. Now, here’s the twist: I had my entire crew with me—ages 2, 4, 6, and 8. And as kids do, my 4-year-old dropped the tea glass. It shattered dramatically across the floor. I gasped. The shopkeeper smiled. And somehow, five minutes later, we were the proud (and slightly stunned) owners of a €700 silk Muslim prayer rug. It now lives in our home, and honestly? Worth every penny for the story alone. That’s Casablanca for you. It’s not just a stop on the map—it’s a place that hands you memories you didn’t even know you needed. Stories that stay with you long after the ship sails away.
